ATP Dallas is finally back into the fray, which means a great indoor tournament with tons of able players in the field.

Within this field specifically, we have five to six top American players with a need to win on home soil.

Straight off the Aussie Open, it will be many of these players’ first week back on the tour, which means some upsets may be in the wings.

Indoor tennis is a bit different than the outdoor conditions in which many are used to.

There is an emphasis on the bounce of the balls and the fact it skids through the court much faster than any other surface.

Players with big serves and a dominant plus one shot like a forehand or backhand will be more than willing to take matches to their opponents.

There will be very few rallies, and winners will be thrown all across the courts.

Players to Watch For

Taylor Fritz - Revenge from the Aussie

T Fritz was looking forward to some big results at the AO 2023.

Although things didn’t quite pan out for the American number one, he still has a whole season left ahead to make up the ground.

One of the biggest events Fritz will be trying to play will be Indian Wells.

He needs to defend his Champion points from 2022 but could use big results in other places to keep him in the elite status.

Fritz has a huge serve and has progressively become better in the past year.

His ability to hit both the wide serve and tee is invaluable, which pairs him up with a plus one forehand.

When you take these conditions into account, Fritz will be a top favourite in Dallas.

If he can keep the unforced errors down, there will be a whole lot of area for him to work with.

Don’t be surprised when Fritz dominates most of his opponents, possibly leading up to the semis and finals.

J.J. Wolf - Top 40 Debut

Jeffrey John Wolf has had a great end to 2022 and start to 2023.

The mullet man from Ohio State University is an all-out attacking player who is not afraid to shoot big in the brightest moments.

Wolf has finally asserted himself on the tour and has the game to go further. Indoor conditions are reminiscent of his college days, ones in which he dominated heavily.

He will be gaining lots of crowd support this week, no matter what opponent he is drawn with.

Both Wolf’s forehand and backhand are lethal, so look for his first strike play to be imperative this week.

Frances Tiafoe - Back on Home Soil

“Big foe” is at the top of the list when it comes to the most entertaining tennis athletes, today.

The draw comes from his fiery persona coupled with a big game on the court.

Tiafoe made the USO Semifinals in 2022, which was his biggest result in his career.

Frances was always considered one of the top prospects of the United States but seems to be finally cashing in on the potential.

If he can win his first match without too many yips, Tiafoe will be a lock to go deep and possibly meet up with his fellow Americans in deeper rounds.
