News Content

Summary

The ATP Tour is in full effect, and we have one of the premier tournaments of the indoor season coming up.

ATP Holland, better known as the Rotterdam Open, is a tournament that features many of the world’s best players.

These conditions are specifically some of the fastest in the season, and it will rely on players being able to make their first serves and first strike.

Typically, the hard-court season has a ton of ups and downs and unique tournament winners.

The field isn’t confirmed with Novak Djokovic yet, but the rest of these top ten players will be keen on breaking through with an opportunity.

It will not be a cakewalk field, though. All of these players are coming back from the Aussie Open with a new mindset and tons of preparation for a long season.

Making the right moves and getting the recovery they need; the world’s best will be competing for a huge trophy and huge prize money.

Let’s get into some of stake.com’s best out right players and matchup favourites in this crazy week for tennis!

Players to Watch For

Fresh Off the Aussie - Stefanos Tsitsipas

Stefanos Tsitsipas is fresh off an AO Final, one in which he lost in three tight sets to the eventual Champion, Novak Djokovic.

Tsitsipas had a great run that saw him beat several top opponents in each round before the final.

Tsitsipas has always been known to thrive on the clay courts, but his game is truly an all-around menace at this point.

His serve and forehand are the biggest weapons, and he has found a way to introduce slices that will frustrate opponents.

Tsitsipas’ backhand isn’t the cleanest nor is it the most powerful, but at the AO he proved to be absolutely on fire.

The best Greek tennis player to date, Stefanos is fancying his chances at lifting up his first 500 title of the year, with great reason.

2022 Champ Defends - Felix Auger Aliassime

Felix Auger Aliassime didn’t have a great AO by any means.

His potential and current level of play demanded much more in terms of results, and he will be disappointed in how he finished the tournament.

However, this time of year is great for the Canadian #1.

Felix’s game on indoor courts, specifically in Rotterdam, is something to behold.

Points that only last less than 15 seconds, Felix can put opponents away with a serve and plus one.

This will be crucial all event long, and if he is not making errors, it will be tough on everyone playing him.

Formulating a game plan and sticking to it will be key for FAA, and we’ll see if he can defend his crown.

Bounce back Time - Daniil Medvedev

Daniil Medvedev didn’t have a great time dealing with Sebastian Korda at the Aussie Open.

The hardcourt spiderman takes another chance at a title when he flies to Rotterdam this week.

Medvedev has done well in indoor tournaments historically, and his game is about as steady as a rock.

Unforced errors are unlikely, and he can defend so well that it becomes an offense.

Daniil will want to get his serve going, though, something that has been lacking in the past few tournaments.

If he can focus up for four or five matches, it might be over for the rest of ‘em.
