Elite Sports Betting Tips: September 2
Scottish Premiership - Celtic vs Rangers - 1x2 Celtic @ 1.93
Nick
Ange Postecoglou’s free-wheeling Celtic have made another excellent start to their campaign, and fresh off a 9-0 demolition away against Dundee United, their goal power is looming as a decisive factor against their bitter arch rival.
Celtic have a full side to pick from, and Kyogo Furuhashi will lead the line again, having netted 6 goals in his last 5 games.
Rangers have been the busier team this week with a Champions League qualifiers mid-week, and serious questions on the future of star player Alfredo Morelos.
Celtic mostly had the better of Rangers in their head to head clashes last season and it’s hard to see that changing anytime soon.
These odds are too good to ignore for a Celtic home game, while they're in this kind of form. 2 units
UFC Fight Night Paris - Robert Whittaker Vs. Marvin Vettori - Vettori To Win @ 2.75
Blake
The UFC heads to Paris, France for the first time with MMA only made legal in the land of the frog in the past few years.
Robert Whittaker heads into the co-main as a deserved favourite as he has run through the entire division save for the current Middleweight Champion in Israel Adesanya.
But The Italian Dream, Marvin Vettori, is playing on (almost) home territory for this fight and don't underestimate his ability to match Whittaker in many of his most effective areas.
If Vettori can make this an ugly fight, perhaps even grapple at times, he has the nous to edge out a judges decision in a fight which isn't expected to end early.
We won't be going for too much glory here, just the one unit drops on and we will hope to get a run for our money on the 'dog. 1 unit
NRL - Sydney Roosters v South Sydney Rabbitohs - 1x2 South Sydney @ 2.19
Brad
Strap in for the latest installment of Rugby League’s oldest rivalry when Sydney Roosters and South Sydney Rabbitohs do battle at the brand new Sydney Football Stadium on Friday night.
Sydney are in the hottest of hot forms right now, currently on a 7-game winning streak having secured finals football last weekend with a bruising 18-14 away win against the Melbourne Storm.
Souths’ form on the other hand has been up and down but are coming off a win against the high-flying North Queensland Cowboys.
It’s always a fierce contest when these two go against each other, but this one will be x100 with a home final next weekend the prize for the winner.
It’s the Bunnies that have the better recent record in this one, having won their last four games against the Tri-Colours.
The Roosters are flying right now but will no doubt be feeling the full effects of last week’s battle with the Storm, as well as missing key men in Victor Radley, Daniel Tupou (both injured) and Lindsay Collins (suspended).
With a fresher squad and Latrell Mitchell back to his brilliant best, we’re going to side with South Sydney to get another one over their rivals. 2 units
English Premier League - Everton v Liverpool Asian Total Under 3.0 @ 1.85
George
It is Merseyside derby day at Goodison Park! After a sluggish start to the campaign we see Liverpool hoping to make it three wins in a row against a resurgent Everton outfit who themselves hope to extend their unbeaten run to three after earning two draws in their last two fixtures.
The Reds look to have found some rhythm, destroying a hopeless Bournemouth outfit before producing a gutsy come-from-behind victory at home against the league's biggest dark horse in Newcastle; while this has happened, Everton have sneakily found some nice form on the back of their new wonderkid, Anthony Gordon, who is one of the league's most exciting young prospects.
Their central midfield department will be bolstered upon the acquisition of former Manchester United youngster James Garner, who will provide some much-needed solidity at the pivot; furthermore, attacking upgrades in both Idrissa Gueye (PSG) and Neal Maupay (Brighton) on deadline day will be just what gaffer Frank Lampard needs to improve their position on the table.
That being said, both teams are coming off short breaks so we should see some defensive formational changes and starting line-up amendments on both sides.
Expect this to be a slow game for the first 45 minutes before the game possibly opening up in the second half.
I will take the under 3 Asian total as insurance, but won't be surprised if we look at a 2-0 or 1-0 result either way. 3 units
La Liga - Sevilla v Barcelona - 1x2 Barcelona @ 1.83
Dom Rae
Barcelona head to Andalusia this weekend to take on a Sevilla side who will be desperate to get their campaign up and running after a poor start.
Barca themselves suffered a poor start, drawing 0-0 at home with Rayo Vallecano, but have since found their stride scoring four goals in their last two games, with new striker Robert Lewandowski scoring three goals in the process.
He is being ably supported by Ousmane Dembele and Raphinha, with Pedri continuing to blossom and pulling all the strings in midfield.
Barca have a kind start to their Champions League campaign with a home tie against Viktoria Plzen and will field a full strength side.
Sevilla are yet to win a game and look to be adapting to life without the superb Jules Kounde, who they sold to Barcelona over the summer, and while they will surely turn the boat around, this won't be the opponent they want to face this weekend as Barcelona look set to continue their winning run. 1 unit
English Premier League - Aston Villa vs Manchester City - 1x2 & Total - Manchester City & Over 2.5 @ 1.77
Caelum
The Citizens have made another fantastic start to the season, winning four of their first five games and second only to Mikel Arteta's Arsenal.
After a 6-0 demolition of newly promoted Nottingham Forest, they will make the short trip south to Birmingham to face Aston Villa.
The Villans have found the going tough to start the season, with just one win to go with four losses in their first five fixtures.
Sitting in 19th spot, many have been calling for manager Steven Gerrard's head after such a poor start following last season's underwhelming campaign.
His job won't get any easier with the arrival of Pep Guardiola's men on Saturday night.
City have dominated this fixture over the last decade, dropping a mere five points from their last 14 fixtures either at the Etihad or Villa Park.
The last time Villa beat City was in September of 2013 and the last time they picked up any points at all, was with a 0-0 draw in November of 2015.
Both of those results came at Villa Park, but City have only gotten better since then and have become a European juggernaut.
Villa have not kept a clean sheet in the league since their 2-0 win at home to Norwich last season and with City's attack in full flight, you'd be very brave backing against Haaland & co.
Eight of the last nine meetings between these sides in all competitions have seen this market win, so ignore the 1.36 odds for City in the 1x2 market and make the most of this extra value. 1 unit
AFL - Fremantle Dockers vs Western Bulldogs - Western Bulldogs & Over 150.5 @ 4.90
Matt R
It's do or die in the west for the Dockers and Bulldogs.
After the previous meeting between these two clubs, the Bulldogs will be eager to make a stance on the game early through the midfield.
Look for Aaron Naughton to be prominent up forward after taking 13 marks against the Dockers last time these two teams met at Optus Stadium and the forward line support of the Bulldogs is large with Sam Darcy, Jamarra Ugle-Hagan and also Cody Weightman are flying high coming into the finals.
The Dockers haven't seen a final in 7 years and I think the inexperience up against a seasoned finals outfit such as the Dogs will show through.
The Bulldogs have also been here before.
Only just sliding into the top eight and traveling to the west for an elimination final and going on to take the premiership against all odds in 2016 with a very similar lineup.
If the Bulldogs can tighten up around the stoppage, unlike their last clash with the Dockers, they should get the win here comfortably with both teams putting up big scores. 4 units
La Liga - RC Celta de Vigo vs Cadiz CF - 1x2 & Total RC Celta De Vigo & Over 1.5 @ 2.10
Cesar
Celta play at home this weekend against Cadiz who are currently bottom of the table in La Liga.
Although they played some decent football last season and managed to save themselves from relegation, Cadiz doesn’t seem like they have done enough to reinforce their squad.
Celta however, have reinforced their forward line with inclusions such as Perez and Oscar Rodriguez, both are proven threats and have experience in La Liga.
In addition to this, Celta’s main man Iago Aspas seems to be in good form scoring goals for fun, or out of frustration as he wants a spot in the National Team for the upcoming World Cup.
He has scored three for three so far, and watching him play you can feel the hunger and energy to prove himself further and leave Luis Enrique no other option than to include him.
Cadiz is winless in their last three matches, all of which have been against northern teams who are known for their battle and grit.
Celta here is not much different to those teams, and playing at home they will have their fans buzzing to help the team secure the win.
Looking at the form of the teams and players, with Cadiz being shaky at the back in their last 3 matches, and certain Celta’s players eager to make a statement, I see this match having one winner: Celta, with at least a brace of goals. 4 units
AFL - Melbourne Demons v Sydney Swans - Melbourne -12.5 @ 1.87
Nathan Pap
After a shaking mid-season, premiership hangover, the best team in football looked primed for another deep finals run.
The Swans have plenty of young blood and will lack the big stage experience to really test the champs.
Plus Friday Night at the MCG against Melbourne spells trouble.
Melbourne overwhelm Sydney.
Can’t see it being too close. 2 units
UFC Fight Night Paris - Ciryl Gane vs Tai Tuivasa - Tuivasa to win via KO @ 6.20
Ben
The UFC Fight Night Paris Main Event features an exciting battle of two heavyweights in great form with plenty of knockout power.
I'm anticipating a barrage of striking and head hunting from both fighters with Tai aiming to prove himself against a difficult opponent.
Both heavyweights have the ability to turn the others lights out with one well placed swing, it's coming down to timing of strikes.
We've seen Tai surprise us by weathering the storm of Derrick Lewis before knocking him out cold in round 4, proving he can go the distance.
Tuivasa claims 'I'd love to knock his head off' and that's what I hope to see, paired with a tasty victory shoey to rehydrate after the fight. 4 units
