MLB 2022 Weekly Preview - Week of June 13th

News Content

The MLB Season has morphed into a clear competition, and those who are going to be challenging for the World Series, look to be very legitimate in these early stages. The New York Yankees look to be the best team in baseball at the moment, and their 40-win mark over the past 50 or so games looks to be hard to challenge. There are so many great things about the season so far, and storylines will only continue to increase as time goes on. Teams and managers will need to take a good look at the rest of the season, and baseball is often a marathon not a sprint. There will need to be pacing and limitations set to pitcher’s innings, and times to take a rest. For now, although, there seems to be a full-on rage from all teams to make their marks known in the first 60 games of the regular season.

Game 1 - Milwaukee Brewers @ New York Mets - Tuesday, June 14th, 2022

Milwaukee has a baseball team stacked with pitching but lacking consistent hitting. Their chances this 2022 season are good, but they need to make moves and regain offense from previous years. Having two of the top 20 pitchers in the game, Milwaukee always feels confident in a series when they are heading into it. They have timely hitting, but not enough to sustain good consistent numbers throughout the 182 game season. Christian Yelich and company know they have the experience and talent to take it far in the playoffs, but their results will need to be stepped up a notch to be considered a serious threat in the NL.

The New York Mets are one of the hottest and most talented teams in baseball at the moment and a large part of their success can be attributed to the newly found ability to get on base and drive in runs. Leaking the loss of Max Scherzer and Jacob DeGrom, the Mets have not looked back and are sitting in the top position in the NL East while also nursing one of the best records in the National League overall. This game will be a great test for them, and the series should prove a positive on their confidence.

Prediction - The Mets take this series, and this game on Tuesday.

Game 2 - New York Yankees @ Toronto Blue Jays - Friday, June 17th, 2022

The Yankees are very clearly the best team in baseball at the moment, and their home run hitters seem to be getting stronger by the day. Aaron Judge is a walking run now, and anytime he’s on the plate, there is reason to believe it will be bombed towards the seats. Pitching has also been a strong suit of the Yankees, and the fans will be praying they are fully healthy come postseason time. Snapping into form this quickly bodes well for the Yankees, and there is plenty of hype around the team in current time.

Toronto needs to realize that their pitching is not as good as their New York rivals and will have to rely on their solid offense to create some moments. If they are to win any game in this series, they need to limit Judge and Stanton while also getting Guerrero and Springer up in the business of runs.

Prediction - New York Yankees on the money line.
