UFC Fight Night: Cannonier vs Strickland
Happy Holidays Fight fans!!!
One last night of violence in 2022, which has been an incredible year of fights for the combat sports leader.
We've got a great card lined up filled with ranked contenders fighting to shuffle the rankings before the holidays.
We hit our 2-leg chalky parlay last week and got a void on our main event pick but we’re excited to finish the year with a win, so let’s get straight in!
Jared Cannonier vs Sean Strickland
Two excellent strikers ranked inside the top 7 will swing hard across 25 minutes or less to cap off our 2022.
The Killa Gorilla is one of the pound-for-pound hardest punchers in the UFC having retained power from his heavyweight days.
Jared Cannonier has displayed more than just power in his middleweight run where he has taken out top contenders like Anderson Silva, Kelvin Gastelum, and Derek Brunson.
Cannonier has only been outpointed by the best in the division in Israel Adesanya and Robert Whittaker.
With an 80%-win finish rate, Cannonier pushes for the finish whenever he smells blood and it will be no different when he faces Sean Strickland this weekend.
Besides being one of the most unique personalities out there, Sean Strickland lets his fists do the talking.
Sean is a 29-fight MMA veteran who has only lost to top competition like Alex Pereira and Kamaru Usman, etc.
He always puts pressure on his opponents by walking them down with a tall boxing stance.
This is a great clash of styles as Cannonier holds the clear power advantage and diversity in attack with his dangerous kicking game.
Although Strickland is the more experienced combatant who is the superior technical striker. We cannot wait to see whose style reigns supreme.
Best Bets
Our first best bet comes on a fun Lightweight scrap between Drew Dober and Bobby Green.
Green has looked impressive late in his career, but we think stylistically Dober is a very tough matchup for anyone in this division.
Dober will hold the youth and power advantage in this 15-minute striking affair which should ensure a victory for him.
Our next bet comes on our co-main event again in the Lightweight division between Arman Tsarukyan and Damir Ismagulov.
This is the most technical fight on the card and will be a very close fight based on our assessment.
Arman is a great prospect, but he has fallen short against fellow elite opponents in Islam Makhachev and Mateusz Gamrot.
Damir is riding a serious 19-fight win-streak and enters this contest in his prime at 31 with excellent technical abilities to back him.
Given the closeness of the fight, we'll take the underdog money on this one.
Our final pick of the year is on our main event.
As the odds suggest, this should be a close fight and we are not sure who gets the job done.
Given that it is going to play out on the feet for 25 minutes we think a pick-em price for this fight to end before the final bell is the value play here.
Selection: Drew Dober (Win market) @1.63
Selection: Damir Ismagulov (Win market) @2.55
Selection: No, Jared Cannonier vs Sean Strickland (Will the fight go the distance) @1.98
Selection: Parlay all Selections @8.23
