UFC Fight Night: Luque vs Muhammad
Hey Fight fans, we're back with another stacked card at the cozy home of the UFC in the heart of Las Vegas.
It will be a tough act to follow the monster UFC 273 card that went down last week but we're excited regardless to get our weekly dose of fight action.
We had an interesting set of bets play out for us last week, cashing a big ticket in Alexander Volkanovski by Knockout at @3.30. Although missing out narrowly with a huge upset in Gilbert Burns to win @5.80 but it was worthy of the stab.
We're back again this week to preview this exciting Welterweight top 6 main event and pick some winners for you guys again. So, let's get into it!
Vicente Luque vs Belal Muhammad
UFC 205, the iconic event where Conor McGregor become the first man to hold two belts in the UFC.
Although two exciting prospects were fighting on the prelims of that card and who knew seven years down the line those two men will combine for an exciting fight night main event.
Vicente Luque is back this weekend to stop another man in his tracks to earn his shot at the champ, but it will be Belal "Remember The Name" Muhammad who will seek revenge this weekend.
Luque has been a fan-favorite fighter and he has been on a serious tear while entertaining the fight fans.
The Silent Assassin has picked up 10 wins out of his last 12 since beating Muhammad, finishing nine men with six knockouts and three submissions.
Luque possesses dangerous striking with real knockout power, a strong chin that has never let him down, and a highly underrated Jiu-jitsu game to finish his prey on the mat.
Luque has fought & finished some of the absolute best in this division in Tyron Woodley, Michael Chiesa & Bryan Barberena.
He has a dangerous 90% career finish rate which makes him one of the most feared contenders in this stacked Welterweight division.
Although, his counterpart has been on the rise since his defeat to Luque winning 10 of his last 12 fights.
Belal is a sharp striker with pressure wrestling which has given problems to many in this division.
He has looked impressive in his recent wins against Damian Maia and Stephen Thompson which makes this rematch very interesting.
The pathway to victory for Luque is to come forward, set up his shots, and out-strike Muhammad to get a patient finish. Although Luque can also set up his mean D'Arce choke if his counterpart shoots a takedown.
Although for Belal to get his revenge, he will have to gain some respect on the feet by landing some bombs on Luque to back him up.
Eventually, he will have to be disciplined and make this a slow-paced fight by mixing in the takedowns and grinding a late finish or decision win.
Best Bets
Our first best bet this week comes on an interesting prelim bout between Jordan Leavitt and Trey Ogden.
Jordan has been impressive in the UFC so far and this week he welcomes another prospect who has faced multiple defeats on the mat.
Jordan Leavitt is impressive on the ground and given his opponent's shortcomings there, we're picking him to get the win and cash a plus money ticket for us this week.
Our next bet comes on the main card bout between Miguel Baeza and Andre Fialho.
This one should be a great fight and given that both fighters are very durable and defensive sound, we're picking this one to cross the 1.5-round mark at some decent odds.
Our final best bet comes on this intriguing main event rematch between Welterweight top-6 prospects Vicente Luque and Belal Muhammad.
We think Vicente Luque is dangerous wherever the fight goes, he can knock Belal out on the feet like in their 2016 meeting or submit him on the mat as he has submitted elite wrestlers in Tyron Woodley and Michael Chiesa.
This fight might play out differently to their initial meeting, but we believe the result is going to be the same, we're backing Vicente Luque to get another big win this weekend.
Selection: Jordan Leavitt (Win market) @ 2.07
Over 1.5 Rounds (Asian Total- Miguel Baeza- Andre Fialho) @ 1.53
