NFL & Super Bowl History
Last season saw Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs defeat the Jalen Hurts and the Philadelphia Eagles to win Super Bowl 57 in the final playoff game of the season. This year we will see if Mahomes and the Chiefs can have a repeat performance, or if another team can take their crown. There are many strong contenders, including Josh Allen and the Buffalo Bills, Joe Burrow and the Cincinnati Bengals, and Justin Herbert and the LA Chargers. Additionally, there are young quarterbacks we are excited to see the progression of like Justin Fields. We expect an exciting season after an exciting off-season saw many key players switch teams.
2023-24 NFL Season Predictions & Playoff Picks
The NFL is split up into two conferences, the AFC and NFC, and each conference has four divisions. The division winners all qualify for the playoffs, as well as the next three teams in each conference with the best records. Let’s start by looking at the AFC for the upcoming season .
The AFC East is slated to be arguably the strongest division in the NFL. The Bills have been powerhouses for years, the Dolphins should be a contender if their quarterback Tua Tagovailoa can stay healthy, and the Jets recently traded for future first ballot hall of famer Aaron Rodgers. Only the Patriots seem undermanned in this division. We expect the Buffalo Bills to win the division again this year, but it’s a tough call.
The AFC North is not as interesting. The Bengals and Ravens are the only teams that should be competitive, and we’ll be picking the Bengals. So long as Joe Burrow stays in good health, this team is in contention to win Super Bowl 2024.
The AFC South has been one of the weakest divisions in the league for years, but that could be changing. We expect the Jacksonville Jaguars to win this division, thanks to the tremendous play of Trevor Lawrence.
The AFC West is home to the Kansas City Chiefs, and we do not expect them to give up the divisional crown this year. The Chargers could make things interesting, but we’re not betting against the Chiefs.
Onto the NFC, we’ll start with the NFC East. We expect the Philadelphia Eagles to win the division after making a Super Bowl appearance last year. However, the Cowboys, Giants, and Commanders can all be competitive.
The NFC North has been the Green Bay Packers division for a decade, but with Aaron Rodgers gone, it is up for grabs. Our bet is on the upstart Detroit Lions to take the divisional crown.
The NFC South might be the weakest division in the league. None of these teams are playoff caliber, but one needs to make it. We’ll pick the Saints, but it’s anyone’s guess who wins this division.
Finally, the NFC West should be cut and dry. Unless the LA Rams suddenly regain their form from a few years ago, we expect the San Francisco 49ers to dominate this division.
Our wildcard picks for the AFC are the Dolphins, Ravens, and Chargers. In the NFC, we’ll pick the Cowboys, Packers, and Rams.
Super Bowl 58 Picks
Our expert outright pick for the Super Bowl is for the Kansas City Chiefs to once again reach and win the Super Bowl. However, this year they will defeat the San Francisco 49ers in the finals.
