Who will win the CPL 2026: our outright winner prediction

Two teams look extremely strong for the 2026 edition, but our CPL prediction is that Guyana Amazon Warriors will get one over on 5-time winners and defending champions Trinbago Knight Riders. It will be a big ask, but we think that the Warriors’ squad of experienced internationals will get them over the line after finishing as losing finalists last year.

CPL 2026 team-by-team preview and predictions

All 7 teams in the CPL will believe they have a chance at the title, even if those odds may be extremely long. Here are our previews and predictions for each team, including some stories we may see unfold as the competition rumbles on.

Trinbago Knight Riders

The Trinbago Knight Riders are the most successful franchise in the competition’s history with 5 championships, and they have one of the batting lineups most would be envious of. However, we think they may fall short this year because of competition from the Warriors. That’s not of their own doing, though, with a good mix of young up-and-comers and established Trinidadian stars like Nicholas Pooran and Kieron Pollard. As offical partners of Stake, we also offer boosted odds on every match featuring TKR! Make sure you follow along as we offer updated betting markets throughout the tournament.

Antigua and Barbuda Falcons

Captained by England legend Moeen Ali, the Falcons will be looking to give a good account of themselves again. They were knocked out at the Eliminator stage by eventual winners Knight Riders, so our CPL predictions have them getting to the same stage once again.

Barbados Tridents

The Tridents have got off to a great start to the 2026 edition, winning their first two fixtures. They have won the whole thing twice before, but it has been 7 years since their last victory. Expect them to make it to the play-offs without threatening the winners.

Guyana Amazon Warriors

South African Imran Tahir is the main man at the Warriors, and we’ve already stated that we think they might just go all the way this year with him as captain. They claimed a 6-wicket win on their first outing and expect to see more as they top the outright betting.

Jamaica Kingsmen

It’s the Kingsmen’s debut in the CPL, and they have certainly had a mixed start to the competition. They lost their first three fixtures before recovering to beat the Knight Riders and the St Kitts & Nevis Patriots. The play-offs may be a step too far, but anything can happen.

St Kitts & Nevis Patriots

The Patriots haven’t won the whole thing since 2021 and have finished rock bottom in 2 of the 4 seasons since then, finishing 5th in the other 2. It doesn’t bode well for 2026, and our CPL 2026 predictions have them plumbing new depths into 7th.

Saint Lucia Kings

Barbadian all-rounder Roston Chase will captain the Kings, looking to get the side back to winning ways. They were champions in 2024, and topped the league phase in 2025. It’s been a while since they missed out on the play-offs, so we expect a Qualifier 2 berth at least.

CPL 2026 top run scorer prediction

There are some exceptional batsmen in the CPL, and that means there is a lot of value to be found in the top run scorer market when you know how to bet on cricket. Our own expert analysis leads us to pick Nicholas Pooran, the Knight Riders’ talisman. Pooran averaged 42.60 runs per game in 2025, which was the second-highest. The year before, he was top of the tree with an average of 56.00. His ability to strike clean 6s with ease underlies his ability in short-form cricket formats.

CPL 2026 top wicket taker prediction

On the other side of the game, our top wicket taker prediction has to go to Imran Tahir. He may be advancing in years at 47, but his spin bowling is as deadly as ever. He finished top last year, and in his prior 5 seasons, he has only finished outside of the top 5 on one occasion. Consistency is his middle name, so we’d put money on him doing it again.

Our dark horse and value picks for the CPL 2026

You can find some great dark horse picks and value bets in the CPL. The Barbados Tridents, for example, are not the most favored of the pack, but are looking in good form coming from 2025 into 2026, so a bet on them making the final may provide value. Their two opening wins have already matched their total from 2025. The same can be said for Jamaica Kingsmen - a bet on them making the playoffs, which seemed so unlikely before a ball was bowled, but appears to be on the cards after some impressive wins.

CPL 2026 betting tips

While the CPL can be unpredictable, given its postseason split and the fast-paced nature of T20 cricket, there are some cricket betting tips we recommend:

  • Consider conditions: The West Indies weather can be both glorious and apocalyptic in one day. Check the conditions before the games, as rain delays may occur, which could disrupt the flow of teams on top. Also consider that some sides may have had a number of fixtures called off and could be rusty up against teams in full flow.

  • Bet on the toss: For those games where it’s difficult to pick between two teams, consider betting on the coin toss to choose which team bats first. This is one of the most popular prop bets in cricket.

  • Understand the T20 format: T20 is very different from Test cricket or ODIs. It is much shorter, typically taking around 3 hours, rather than an entire day or up to 5 days, and its differences affect betting strategy. For example, with just 20 overs, meaning a maximum of 4 overs per bowler, betting on wickets is typically much smaller in scale, unlike the over/under markets in Test matches.

  • Know the form: The competition runs for just over a month, so form is much more important. With games happening thick and fast, teams and individuals tend to string together strong performances. Knowing who is at the top of their game is even more important in making match predictions.

  • Watch live: Matches can change very quickly in T20. For example, batters are looking to rack up big numbers by hitting 6s to build the score quickly. You can watch live sports, including the CPL, to keep an eye on how things are unfolding. our upcoming fixtures and look for the streaming logo.
