Tour de France 2024 Startlist

The teams in this year’s event will be the same as in 2023, including all 18 UCI WorldTeams plus four UCI ProTeams:

  • Alpecin-Deceuninck

  • Arkéa-B&B Hotels

  • Astana Qazaqstan

  • Bahrain Victorious

  • Cofidis

  • Decathlon AG2R La Mondiale

  • DSM-Firmenich PostNL

  • EF Education-EasyPost

  • Groupama-FDJ

  • INEOS Grenadiers

  • Intermarché-Wanty

  • Israel-Premier Tech (ProTeam)

  • Jayco-AlUla

  • Lidl-Trek

  • Lotto-Dstny (ProTeam)

  • Movistar

  • Red Bull-Bora-Hansgrohe

  • Soudal-Quick-Step

  • TotalEnergies (ProTeam)

  • UAE Team Emirates

  • Uno-X Mobility (ProTeam)

  • Visma |Lease a Bike

Each team will confirm its squad in the coming days, and there will be a lot of interest in those riders snapped up by teams to represent them on the Tour in France for the first time.

Keep an eye on Magnus Cort, for example, the Dane who joined Uno-X Mobility in 2024. He’s won stage victories in all three Grand Tours before and recently showed good form in the Critérium du Dauphiné, winning the second stage.

Other riders in the news include Dauphiné winner Primož Roglič with Red Bull-Bora-Hansgrohe and Mark Cavendish, who has put off retirement to continue chasing sprinting glory with Astana Qazaqstan.

All eyes will also be on the squad for Visma | Lease a Bike, which has had more than its fair share of injuries and bad luck. This includes a torrid time of crashes at the Giro, while Steven Kruijswijk and Dylan van Baarle both crashed out of the Critérium du Dauphiné.

Tour de France 2024 Predictions

Let’s look at some of the favorites and our picks to win the 2024 Tour de France.

With Jonas Vingegaard returned to fitness in time for the start of the race, can Pogačar add his name to the ultra-restricted club of male riders to win the Giro and the Tour in the same season? Will Roglič get his revenge from the 2020 edition? And what can we expect of the World Champion, Remco Evenepoel?

Favorites & Picks to Win

  • Tadej Pogačar: The star man of UAE Team Emirates is a hot favorite to win the Tour de France in 2024, following his successes in 2020 and 2021, as well as his second-place finish last time around. Surrounded by big guns such as Adam Yates, Juan Ayuo, and João Almeida, the young Slovenian seems to be the favorite this year.

  • Jonas Vingegaard: Hopefully, the two-time reigning champion Jonas Vingegaard will have made a full recovery from his horror crash earlier in the season. However, as most of the strongest domestiques at Visma | Lease A Bike are either out due to injuries or still recovering, not to mention the bad shape Sepp Kuss showed in the Dauphiné, the odds don’t seem to be in Dane’s favor.

  • Primož Roglič: Now racing for Bora-Hansgrohe, Primož Roglič will be fighting for the one big title he has yet to conquer in a stage race. After winning Critérium du Dauphiné with the help of super domestiques like Vlasov and Hindley, it looks like he may do it this time if he has the legs.

  • Remco Evenepoel: The rider from Belgium won LaVuelta in Spain in 2022, and will make his debut in the French race this year. Soudal-QuickStep recently hired Mikel Landa as a super domestique for him, and with almost 60 KM of individual effort, the World Champion on ITT is a strong contender. Can we win? Chris Froome himself recently tipped him for glory in France.

While the yellow jersey goes to the race leader in terms of time, stage points leaders will fight for the green jersey, and here you can look to riders like Jasper Philipsen, who will be keen to follow the likes of Peter Sagan, who won the green jersey seven times. Other points of interest include whether Mark Cavendish can make history with the most stage wins, as he’s currently jointly on 34 with Eddy Merckx. The King of the Mountain is always hotly contested, with the polka dot jersey going to the best climber during the event. Watch out, too, for the leading team, defined by its riders wearing numbers on a yellow background.
