UFC Fight Night: Kattar vs Emmett

Fight fans, it is fight week again live from Austin, Texas. We still cannot get over how incredible UFC 275 was, as we said this was an underrated card and the fights lived up. We might have seen arguably the fight of the year and some crazy knockouts which combined for an amazing night in Singapore. Two of our best bets were close to cashing but this week we intend to pick some real winners for you guys. We've got a fun fight night ahead of us with some amazing scraps and we cannot wait for all of it to go down, so as always let's dive right in!

Calvin Kattar vs Josh Emmett

The featherweight division is at its stacking best and this main event this weekend will play a prominent factor in the title picture. The boss of the Boston cartel is back this weekend to swing hands and he will have a more than willing dance partner in the explosive veteran Josh Emmett.

Calvin Kattar entered the UFC as one of the most touted talents on the roster on the back of his elite boxing skills and knockout power. He made a mark by winning 4 of his first 5 fights which set him up for a main-event spot against fellow top contender Zabit Magomedsharipov. Kattar gave the Russian a run for his money but lost a close decision on the scorecards. Besides his shutdown against former champion Max Holloway, Kattar has been on fire in the division taking out some top names.

Kattar's most notable wins have been against Shane Burgos, Jeremy Stephens, and Giga Chikadze. Although this week his title shot hopes will be put on the line against one tough Arizona native, Josh Emmett. Josh Emmett is one of the pound-for-pound hardest punchers riding a 7- fight knockdown streak having knocked down his opponents at least once in his last 7 fights which makes him one nightmare matchup.

Emmett has a great wrestling pedigree, but it is his fists that he trusts to land the bombs which end the night early. He has been on a great run in the UFC currently riding a 4-fight win streak including 2 knockouts and 1 fight of the night war. Emmett has beaten some great names on his run to the top of the Featherweight jungle including Dan Ige, Shane Burgos, and Michael Johnson.

This is one of the best 5 rounders of the years and we think it has a lot of potential to be a fight-of-the-year candidate. Kattar will have the reach and boxing technique advantage, but the raw power of Emmett can make this an interesting war.

Best Bets

Our first bet this week is a plus money parlay of two favorites in Adrian Yanez and Gregory Rodrigues. Yanez is one of the brightest talents in the UFC right now and he is up against a favorable opponent in 35-year-old Tony Kelley. We think Yanez is the much younger and fresher fighter who will get us our first tick.

For our second leg, we're backing the Brazilian middleweight to cash the ticket for us. Gregory Rodrigues is very well-rounded, and he comes up against a talented Julian Marquez who is vulnerable to wrestling. We think Rodrigues can handle him on the feet and has a clear pathway to victory by taking Marquez down as he has been taken down by nearly all his former foes.

Our next bet comes on the main card Welterweight scrap between Tim Means and Kevin Holland. Big mouth is back for more at welterweight and he comes against a winnable fight against Octagon veteran Tim Means. We think Holland has retained his power from Middleweight and has improved on the takedown defense, so if he can keep this on the feet, we can see him getting a 2nd or 3rd round finish in this affair.

Our final pick comes on this nasty main event between Calvin Kattar and Josh Emmett. This fight is going to be wild and competitive for as long as it lasts but given the explosiveness on both sides, we cannot see this one hitting the scorecards.
