NFL 2022 Weekly Preview: Week 12
Welcome to a very special Thanksgiving edition of our Weekly Preview.
Last week, we went 3-2 overall, going 2-1 in the NFL and 1-1 in college football.
Thus, our winning percentage for the year is still sitting at exactly 60 percent which we cannot complain about.
This week, we are very confident in our picks.
So grab the turkey, mash potatoes with some gravy and enjoy our five predictions in five days.
If this is your first time reading our Weekly Preview, we have a winner for each of the five days of football.
This covers the NFL Thursday Night Football, a Friday college football game, a Saturday college football game, a Sunday NFL game and finally the Monday Night Football game to end the week! With that said, let’s get into the winners for the week!
NFL – New England Patriots @ Minnesota Vikings
Are you ready for some Thanksgiving football?
Out of the three games on Thursday, we are going with the late cap which has the New England Patriots (6-4) heading into Minnesota to take on the 8-2 Vikings.
Despite their records, the Patriots are only getting +2.5 points in what should be a great game.
The Patriots are red hot, winning three in a row and five of their last six.
They have a ton of momentum on their side after winning on a punt return with 5 seconds left against the Jets last weekend.
On the contrary, the Vikings are looking for some type of momentum after getting crushed 40-3 at home against the Cowboys.
Everything that could go wrong in a game did for the Vikings as they only had 183 yards of total offense and gave up 458 yards.
The Vikings have been known to pull out close victories all season but we believe this is a horrible spot for them.
Bill Belichick is 5-1 against the Vikings in his coaching career and will definitely want a win on Thanksgiving dinner.
The Vikings have a 4-game lead in their division and can definitely have a few more slip ups before the season is over.
The Patriots need a win here to stay relevant in the AFC East and keep one of the last Playoff spots.
Therefore, everything points in the direction of the Patriots not only covering but winning outright against the Vikings.
The line is too small, the Patriots are the hungrier team and have a ton of momentum.
Betting Kirk Cousins on Primetime is never a smart thing to do and we hope everyone will take the Patriots to cap off their Thanksgiving festivities.
Selection: New England Patriots +2.5 @ 1.95
College Football – Baylor Bears @ Texas Longhorns
The day after Thanksgiving brings a ton of college football to the table and we are very confident in one of the early matchups for the day.
The Baylor Bears gave everything they had last week and fell short at the end in their upset bid of TCU.
Up eight points with two minutes left, the Bears managed to give up a touchdown, stop a two-point conversion, go three and out and give up a game winning 40-yard field goal as time expired.
With a gut wrenching loss like that, we believe the Bears are done.
Losers of 2 straight, they head into Austin, Texas to take on a Longhorns team that still has an outside chance to play for the Big 12 Championship game.
A win here and a Kansas State loss, would put Texas in the Big 12 Championship game against TCU. On top of that, Texas is coming off a stomping of Kansas where they put up 55 points.
Bijan Robinson ran for 243 yards and we expect his dominance to continue against a Baylor Bears squad that just wants to be home for Thanksgiving.
In college football, letdown spots are huge.
The Bears have nothing to play for and will come out very unmotivated for an early morning game against the Longhorns.
Take Texas and expect this game to get ugly quickly.
We are expecting the Longhorns to easily win by double digits this Friday morning.
Selection: Texas Longhorns -8 @ 1.87
College Football - Oregon Ducks @ Oregon State Beavers
The Oregon Ducks head into Corvallis to take on their rival the Oregon State Beavers in what should be a great game.
The #9 Ducks (9-2) have a ton to play for and we expect them to win a hard fought game against the #21 Beavers (8-3).
If the Ducks can take care of business on Saturday afternoon, they will get a spot in the Pac 12 Championship game against the USC Trojans which will have huge bowl game implications.
This would be a huge step in the right direction for first year head coach Dan Lanning especially after getting destroyed in week #1 against Georgia.
While the Beavers play great defence and are always hard to beat at home, we will take the better athletes in this game.
Oregon is more explosive on offense and should be able to break open a few big plays that will swing this game in their favour.
After beating a top 10 Utah team last week, the Ducks should have all the momentum on their side.
While we expect a hard fought game that comes down to the wire, the Ducks should not only win but cover the point spread.
Expect the Ducks to play in the Pac 12 Championship against the USC Trojans which will be an amazing game.
For that to happen, the Ducks need to get it done against the Beavers and we will be backing them on Saturday afternoon.
Selection: Oregon Ducks -3 @ 1.89
NFL – Green Bay Packers @ Philadelphia Eagles
Are you ready for some Sunday Night football? The Green Bay Packers (4-7) head into Philadelphia to take on the red hot Eagles who are 9-1.
While the Packers have been the biggest disappointment of the year, we still have faith in Aaron Rodgers.
Despite losing six out of their last seven and having a 1-4 record on the road, we are backing the Green Bay Packers one last time.
This is definitely a must win situation for them if they have any chance of making the Playoffs.
Our angle here is quite simple.
We believe that Aaron Rodgers will not lose two Primetime games in a row and we are not sold on the Eagles despite their 9-1 record.
The Packers have a favourable schedule to end the season and with the Bears and Rams up next, they could be 7-7 in a blink of an eye.
The Eagles have a one game cushion for the #1 seed in the NFC and can afford a let down here.
We are aware of the offensive struggles for the Packers but we believe that they will shock the world on Sunday Night.
Even if we are wrong with our prediction of the Packers outright winning, we have a 7-point cushion here.
Betting against Aaron Rodgers in a must win regular season game is not a smart thing to do.
Take the Packers and expect them to play inspired football on Primetime.
Their season is definitely on the line and we will be backing them as a 7-point underdog on Sunday Night!
Selection: Green Bay Packers +7 @ 1.87
NFL – Pittsburgh Steelers @ Indianapolis Colts
Welcome to Monday Night football where we have a game that means almost nothing.
The Pittsburgh Steelers are 3-7 and have no chance of making the Playoffs.
Despite that, we will get to see them take on the underachieving 4-6-1 Indianapolis Colts who are basically in must win mode to have a shot themselves.
The only major angle we have here surrounds the Steelers quarterback Kenny Pickett.
Pickett will be making his first start in Primetime and we love fading quarterbacks in this situation.
Despite the Colts losing four out of five and blowing a late game lead against the Eagles last week, we have to back them here.
They are 2.5 games behind for the last Wildcard spot but should be able to win in Primetime against this rookie quarterback.
Fading rookie quarterbacks making their Primetime debuts is a profitable strategy.
While both of these teams are horrible, we will take the team that produces more yards on offense, gives up less yards on defence and has a much more experienced quarterback.
This will be Matt Ryan’s second last game on Monday Night Football and we expect to see flashes of the old “Matty Ice.”
Fade the rookie quarterback and take the team that still has a slight chance of making the Playoffs.
Selection: Indianapolis Colts -2.5 @ 1.82
We hope everyone enjoys this special week of football and we are very confident in our plays.
This week, our multi pays 23/1.
We wish you the best of luck this week in what should be a great week of football!
