NFL 2022 Weekly Preview: Week 2
Are you ready for some football?!
We apologize for not having our Weekly College/NFL Preview last week but we are ready to start off Week 2 with a bang.
For the third year in a row, we will be focusing on our five game slate that spans five days.
If this is your first time reading our Weekly Preview, we have a winner for each of the five days of football.
This covers the NFL Thursday Night Football, a Friday college football game, a Saturday college football game, a Sunday NFL game and finally the Monday Night Football game to end the week!
With that said, let’s get into the winners for the week!
NFL – Los Angeles Chargers @ Kansas City Chiefs
This Thursday we get a special treat when two divisional rivals face off in what should be a great football game.
Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs offense looked amazing last week despite the departure of Tyreek Hill.
Scoring touchdowns on their first three drives, the Chiefs never looked back and dominated the Cardinals from start to finish.
The Los Angeles Chargers also looked quite impressive beating the Las Vegas Raiders.
Though the Raiders shot themselves in the foot with three turnovers, the Chargers held onto victory with a late minute stop.
Playing the Raiders at home and going into Arrowhead stadium on Primetime are two different beasts though.
While the Chargers have come out victorious the last two times in Arrowhead, we believe that the Chiefs will roll on Thursday night.
The Chiefs upcoming schedule is very tough with road games against the Colts and the Buccaneers so we expect Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs to take care of business against a Chargers team that has played them tough recently.
Laying 4.5 points is always a bit dangerous in a divisional game, but we believe that the Chiefs will dominate this game from start to finish and easily cover the spread.
Don’t worry about a backdoor here, the Chiefs should definitely win by double digits.
Selection: Kansas City Chiefs -4.5 @ 1.91
College Football – Florida State Seminoles @ Louisville Cardinals
On Friday we get a treat with a solid ACC matchup on ESPN.
Louisville looked downright atrocious in their first game of the season against Syracuse but looked a lot better last week pulling the upset on the road against UCF.
With two road games under their belt, Louisville’s offense should look even better at home on a nationally televised stage.
Malik Cunningham has all the experience in the world and used both his arm and legs to beat UCF last week.
We expect him to do the same this week against a Florida State team that is probably a bit too overvalued after surviving against LSU two weeks ago.
When teams win in miraculous fashion like FSU did against LSU, the worst thing for them is a bye.
College players usually get a bit too overconfident after a huge win especially when they have two weeks to pat themselves on the back before their next game.
We’ll gladly take the home dog here on Friday night.
While we think Louisville will outright win, taking the +2.5 points is definitely worth it especially seeing how Florida State won two weeks ago.
Selection: Louisville Cardinals +2.5 @ 1.95
College Football – Miami Hurricanes @ Texas A&M Aggies
Texas A&M looked downright disgraceful last week losing as an 18-point favourite at home against Appalachian State.
Scoring only 14 points against a team that gave up 63 the week before is mind boggling to say the least.
All the hype was on the Aggies this year having the #1 recruiting class and they have not lived up to expectations.
Luckily for them, they have a very overrated Miami squad coming into Kyle Field on Saturday Night.
This line should be nowhere near five points and we believe that we are truly getting an early season college football gift.
This is definitely an overreaction due to one disappointing game and we have all the faith in the world that Jimbo Fisher will have his players ready for this game.
Expect a complete beat down on Saturday night. Miami definitely does not deserve their #13 ranking and will get beaten by double digits.
There’s no reason to break down the X’s and O’s in this one.
Take the Aggies and expect them to bounce back and cover this 5 point spread easily. Gig ‘em!
Selection: Texas A&M Aggies -5 @ 1.90
NFL – New England Patriots @ Pittsburgh Steelers
We have all the confidence in the world that Bill Belichick and the Patriots are not going to start off 0-2 for the season.
We are also not worried about the back injury to Mac Jones.
With the Ravens and Packers up next for the Patriots, this is as close as a must win for a team this early in the season.
The Steelers were gift wrapped a victory on the road against the Bengals.
Five turnovers, horrible time management and a block kick were just some of the reasons that the Steelers squeaked out a victory.
Nonetheless, we are not sold on the Steelers at all.
We believe Bill Belichick will have all the answers for Mitch Trubisky and the Steelers offense.
Laying 2 1/2 on the road is tough especially seeing how bad the Patriots played last week but it is definitely the right side.
Have confidence that Bill Belichick will not start the season 0-2 and expect the Patriots to roll on Sunday.
Selection: New England Patriots -2.5 @ 1.86
NFL – Minnesota Vikings @ Philadelphia Eagles
Are you ready for a double dose of Monday Night Football?
With two games on the slate for Monday, we decided to go with the Eagles for a number of reasons.
First off, now that Dak Prescott is out for a significant amount of time, the NFC East is wide open.
Expect the Eagles to capitalize on this and jump out to an early lead in the standings with their easy schedule.
It wouldn’t surprise us if the Eagles were one of the last undefeated teams with their very soft schedule to start the season.
On top of that, the Eagles looked quite impressive on the road against the Lions last week.
Jalen Hurts looks like he has matured since last year and we expect him to have another good game this week against a Vikings team that is a tad overrated.
While the win against the Packers looked impressive, everyone and their mother knows that the Packers start off very slow every year.
Expect the Vikings to come back down to reality with a loss here on Monday Night.
Kirk Cousins is terrible on Monday Night football and we expect that trend to continue here.
Take the Eagles and feel confident that they win by more than a field goal!
Selection: Philadelphia Eagles -2.5 @ 1.85
So there you have it. Five games in five nights.
We always expect to go at least 3-2 (60 percent) for the week but we have a great feeling about this slate.
If you decide to parlay these all together, it pays a whopping 24/1.
Take our multi below and start off the football season with a bang!
Goodluck everyone!
