UEFA Champions League 2023: Round of 16 Leg Two - Week 2

Summary

UEFA Champions League continues with the round of sixteen in week two of leg two matches, which pits eight teams up against one another for a chance to advance into the Quarterfinals stage.

Some of these ties are in precarious positions, while some are already locked up into the next round.

There is no denying, though, that all teams will be fighting their butts off for a spot in the next round, regardless of the score on aggregate.

Two legs always provide fans with magic and there is always an opportunity to recover, even in the deepest, darkest situations.

After a historical comeback with a near bench squad by Liverpool against Barcelona just a couple of years ago, and a huge Semi Final push by Real Madrid against City from two goals down, there is nothing that can be ruled out.

The outcomes over the next few games will be crucial in turning around seasons, as well as making seasons.

Positive results will see teams go through, but negative results will be shamed into the dropouts.

RB Leipzig versus Manchester City - Tuesday, March 14th, 2023 (Agg. 1-1)

With Gvardiol manning the ship and their attack playing in great form, anything is possible.

Look for Leipzig to try and hit on the counter and make clearances from the back.

Manchester City and Pep Guardiola are facing pressure in all competitions at this point of the season.

In the Premier League, City are currently sitting in second with some work to make up for in order to catch Arsenal.

The Blues are also sitting on a draw of a tie and the team should not be content.

A performance at home in dominating fashion is not out of the question, and they will be firm favourites heading into Tuesday.

If Erling Haaland and company are locked in, they should have no problem dispatching the squad from Germany.

Betting Prediction - City to win and the over 3.5 goals, expect a goal fest after the first one is scored and opens up.

Liverpool versus Real Madrid - Wednesday, March 15th, 2023 (Agg. 2-5)

Liverpool and Real Madrid will have a match in which the Los Blancos feel like they have already more than secured a spot in the QF.

Champions League winners and historically dominant, Real Madrid were able to wash Liverpool with five goals to two in the first leg at Anfield.

After a two to nil deficit, Real Madrid were able to consolidate and make huge problems for the British side.

Liverpool is going to feel hard-done by the result, and especially after their start, they will feel angry.

Look for the Reds to hurl everything here, as they have done in the past, but it won’t be enough.
