UFC Fight Night: Pavlovich vs Blaydes

News Content

What’s up Fight fans? We’re back with another Fight night breakdown from the Apex this weekend.

Last weekend’s card in Kansas City was amazing given the fun finishes on display and we also cashed in our big ticket at near 3/1 odds as Max Holloway proved why he is still the best.

This week’s action promises violence in some closely contested matchups and we cannot wait to break it all down, so let’s get to it!

Sergei Pavlovich vs Curtis Blaydes

Two 6-feet-plus Heavyweights colliding inside a 30 feet Octagon can never disappoint.

The exit of Francis Ngannou and the comeback of Jon Jones has stirred things up in the Heavyweight division as we could be looking at a potential no.1 contender fight this weekend.

Sergei Pavlovich is the definition of a scary heavyweight who has the perfect balance between knockout power, effectiveness, and explosiveness.

The rank 3 contender is currently riding a scary five fight Round 1 knockout win streak which has seen him defeat top heavyweights like Tai Tuivasa and Derrick Lewis.

Pavlovich has won 14 career fights via first-round knockout and if he smells blood this weekend, he is going to make it a quick night.

The Russian has a steep test in front of him against the grinding veteran of the division Curtis "Razor" Blaydes.

Blaydes has been a key part of the heavyweight title picture since 2017 but has fallen short in title eliminators on multiple occasions.

He has beaten elite competition in Alistair Overeem, Junior Dos Santos, and Tom Aspinall in his impressive 17-3 MMA career.

This fight is a great clash of styles as both fighters are facing their biggest nightmares.

Pavlovich has one career loss to a grinding wrestling style, and he faces Curtis who is an expert at drowning his opponents in deep waters.

Whereas all of Curtis Blaydes career losses have come to knockout artists which is Pavlovich’s world.

Best Bets

Our first bet this week is on a fun prelim Heavyweight scrap between Mohammed Usman and Junior Tafa.

Two brothers of UFC veterans will collide in an explosive bout which will be fun to see.

We think Tafa is young, hungry, and will have the speed advantage which will be the key in a dog fight.

Next up, we move to our co-main event between Brad Tavares and Bruno Silva.

Bruno Silva is an early KO or bust and is coming off two losses getting out-struck by Gerald Meerschaert which is a bad look.

We think Tavares is the tough veteran here who will defend the early onslaught and put a pace on Silva to get the win.

Our final pick comes on our main event between Sergei Pavlovich and Curtis Blaydes.

We cannot find any value in either fighter as they both have clear pathways to win but we think chaos is guaranteed here.

Given that Pavlovich has 14 round 1 finishes and Blaydes has finished his last two opponents inside 7.5 minutes, we'll back the Under 1.5 rounds in what promises to be an explosive & quick main event in our eye.
