Match Betting Previews
Maria Sakkari versus Marta Kostyuk - Tuesday, July 4th
Maria Sakkari is having a good grass season, and she doesn’t look to stop anytime soon.
The Greek #1 is currently battling through some tough moments of her career, but she has done more than well to stay up and make results happen without being dramatic.
Sakkari is one of the, if not the most athletic women on the tour currently and she is a tough customer to get rid of.
She is able to extend rallies with ease because of her movement around the court, but also get easy points with powerful forehands and backhands.
There is clearly something brewing with Maria’s grass season, and she hopes to take it to another level at Wimbledon.
Marta Kostyuk started off this season with the best win of her career at WTA Austin, a hard-court tournament.
Since then, she has done better on the doubles side of things rather than singles, but this tournament should be one she has circled on her calendar.
The Ukrainian is also athletic and produces harder strokes than Sakkari.
She will need to keep her UE count low in order to have a chance at winning this, though.
Betting Prediction - Kostyuk +1.5 sets / Sakkari ML.
Anett Kontaevit versus Lucia Steffanini - Monday, July 3rd
Anett Kontaevit will be exiting tennis after an abrupt injury that will force her to retire after her participation in this tournament.
The Estonian has had a storied career but could never get through to a GS win.
Regardless, she will be giving it all she has for one last hurrah this week and possibly next.
Lucia Steffanini looks to play spoiler in a tough matchup between two players who are not the best on grass, but definitely have weapons that are optimal for the surface.
There will be plenty of twists and turns in this match, with the major one being Kontaevit’s possible last match ever.
