New York Mets @ New York Yankees - Tuesday, August 23rd, 2022

Both New York teams are World Series hopefuls but the two have been on completely different trajectories since the all-star break.

The New York Mets have finally clicked into gear, boasting a top record in the whole league since the break.

Their pitching is finally all getting to the point where health is no longer a problem, while the offense picks up the slack for their mistakes in the first half.

Pete Alonso and Francisco Lindor are doing a great job of keeping the club down both defensively and with the bats, while their starters pick up strikeout after strikeout.

They are in complete form at the moment and will head into the Subway series with maximum confidence to beat the Yankees in a series once again.

Yankees nation feels a strong caution with the way their team is currently playing.

Talent and results are two completely different things and what was once the best start in all the majors is now a mere afterthought.

The Yankees will be a top seed heading into the playoffs as of this moment, but any further major slippage will be detrimental to their chances.

The San Diego Padres are under the world’s spotlight after young star Fernando Tatis Jr. tested positive for PEDs just this month.

The shortstop was planning on returning to the field in due time but will now be set back almost two full seasons due to the violation.

Acquiring Juan Soto was supposed to be a World Series winning move for the Padres and they will have to wait some time before the “big three” will step up all on the field together.

This series against the Guardians is important for their mentality going forward and they will take every game with their new trade acquisitions in the process.
