NBA Tips and Predictions: January 17 – 23
Overview
Here we are in Week 14 of NBA Action! With the season heating up and about at that midpoint of the totality, all teams in both conferences will be aiming to create results that get them into more favourable positions down the stretch. Although there are many different news factors such as: the outbreaks of COVID among teams, roster spot signings, and coaching deficiencies among organizations, these players are keen to get in on the action. This week has a ton of great games, but let’s get into what we think are the best matches of the slate.
January 17: Brooklyn Nets vs Cleveland Cavaliers
There are so many great things about a great Eastern Conference rivalry. The games are more intense, and the ability is showcased on a higher level. Although Kevin Durant has been injured, and will need 6 weeks to recover, there is plenty of pride still left with the Brooklyn Nets.
The Cleveland Cavaliers on the other side are also dealing with a major season-ending injury with their star point guard, Ricky Rubio. However, this will not stop the Cleveland train as star Darius Garland and Kevin Love will be looking to replicate their recent defensive success on the nets in another, huge way this Monday. There will be bragging rights for both sides in this game, especially for a newly welcomed Kyrie Irving. Selection: Cleveland Cavaliers ML
January 19: Memphis Grizzlies vs Milwaukee Bucks
The Memphis Grizzlies are starting to become one of America’s most fun and entertaining teams. Led by star point guard Ja Morant, there seems to be nothing that scares these young guns on the Memphis Grizzlies. Jaren Jackson and Morant are coming for blood each and every time they are on the court, and it is apparent with their record. They will be facing a tough task in the Milwaukee Bucks who look like they are ready to defend their NBA Championship once the time comes around.
Giannis and his battle partners are enjoying a great run of form, and they are absolutely loving life in the Cheese land. Although not fully healthy yet, the Bucks are gaining absolute steam heading into an extended period of games that proceeds the All-star break. Khris Middleton is finally picking up his potential, and this team is looking beyond scary again.
Selection: Milwaukee Bucks ML
January 20: Phoenix Suns vs Dallas Mavericks
Phoenix is on top of the world at the moment, and only time will tell how long their chemistry lasts. But, in the meantime Chris Paul and his crew of men have nothing to fear. Phoenix is a well oiled machine led by Monty Williams at the helm, who is the greatest at keeping his players in check. Regardless of who you like in the NBA, Monty has been inspirational with how he has kept this roster afloat, and has them in such a great spot to compete. The number one seed in the NBA, Phoenix will be looking to continue a roll against the hot Dallas Mavericks.
Luka Doncic is on another level, but is this really something that we should be surprised of? No, the Dallas Mavericks are finally figuring out themselves from an early season slump that saw them below .500 for the majority of the downtrend. In recent games, though, Doncic and co. have been looking spectacular. Look for them to put up a great fight against the Suns in what should be a night thriller.
Selection: Dallas Mavericks Spread
