Players to Watch
Hometown and Tournament Favorite - Lorenzo Musetti
Hailing from Carrara, Italy, Lorenzo Musetti has had an absolute breakout year in 2022.
The former US Open Juniors Champion is now considered one of the top players on tour, winning several matches and titles to close out the year.
The one-handed backhand is a difficult art to master and much less used on the modern-day tour.
However, Lorenzo makes it look flawless and powerful at the same time.
His game is known to create a heavy ball and give opponents headaches with the amount of spin created.
Musetti has a ton of variety to his game and can deploy any shot in the book at the appropriate time.
His drop shot has been masterful to end the 2022 campaign and will likely be a difference maker in the Milan Finals as well.
Look for Musetti to end his season off in style in front of the home crowd in Milano.
Superstar in the Making - Jack Draper
British youngster Jack Draper has been touted as one of the best players to watch for in 2023 by many.
Having already broken the top forty rankings currently, Draper has the biggest game out of anyone coming up from his region and this tournament.
A huge serve and nasty lefty forehand, Draper has taken down big names in bunches this year.
His rise to the top this season has come at the expense of names like Felix Auger Aliassme and Stefanos Tsitsipas to highlight a few.
He can clearly rally with the best of them and has a finishing shot for the ages if he can get there.
Draper has a great shot at winning it all this week and expect him to push for exactly that.
Silent Killer - Brandon Nakashima
In what has been a season of breakout tournaments, Brandon Nakashima has quietly been an assassin of top players on the tour.
The #1 ITF Junior just a few years back, Nakashima has finally raised his level to compete with the big names.
He won his first ATP 250 in October in San Diego, while finishing in the top sixteen at grand slams consistently this year.
There is no ceiling high enough for the potential of Brandon and his team knows they need to home in his raw talent.
If he can learn how to control his emotions on tour, we will be seeing Nakashima win multiple tournaments in 2023.
