F1 2026 season - what to know before you bet

This season, the Drag Reduction System (DRS) was replaced by Overtake Mode. This, combined with the 50/50 hybrid power split, has led to more overtaking opportunities and less predictable race outcomes.

So far, Mercedes F1 has made the most of these changes and leads the way in the Constructors’ Championship standings. Mercedes driver Kimi Antonelli is out in front with 5 wins, ahead of his teammate George Russell, who has 1 win. However, since they updated their car following the Miami GP, Ferrari has emerged as a possible contender, with strong racing from both Lewis Hamilton and Charles Leclerc. Hamilton is now 2nd in the Drivers’ Championship standings, after winning the Barcelona-Catalunya GP.

F1 2026 drivers and teams

Kimi Antonelli and George Russell have been key for Mercedes in building a massive lead in the race for the Constructors’ Championship. Ferrari F1 are currently a distant second, but their performances have improved significantly, and Lewis Hamilton and Charles Leclerc are both excellent drivers. In the race for the Drivers’ Championship, Antonelli is out in front, with Hamilton and Russel currently attempting to close the gap.

This season saw the inclusion of 2 new F1 teams as Cadillac became the first independent constructor to join since 2016. Meanwhile, Audi took over from Sauber.
