UFC Fight Night: Blaydes vs Daukaus
UFC Fight Night: Blaydes vs Daukaus
Welcome back fight fans, UFC London lived up to all the hype and proved to be one of the best cards of 2022 so far.
We had a great week of best bets cashing in 2 tickets for you guys in Topuria + Pimblett @1.45 and Tom Aspinall @1.80.
We just missed out on cashing our @7.5 parlay as we picked Arnold Allen to win but got the method of victory wrong.
This week we're back with another classic fight night although with a new home in Columbus, Ohio.
It will be a tough act to follow UFC London but there are some intriguing top 10 matchups on this card that will play a prominent factor in the title picture of their respective divisions.
We're going to break down this fun heavyweight main event this week and pick some more winners in the hope to cash our multi for the week.
So, let's get straight into it!
Curtis Blaydes vs Chris Daukaus
Heavyweight main events rarely disappoint, and we believe this top 10 contender fight will be a fun one to witness this weekend.
Ex Philadelphia Cop Chris Daukaus has had a successful transition to an MMA career but his pathway to the top will be blocked by Chicago's top 5 heavyweight, Curtis “Razor” Blaydes.
Blaydes has always been one of those fighters who is 1 fight away from a title fight as he has had one of the most impressive resume in the division.
He has looked dominant in his wins over top heavyweights like Mark Hunt, Alistair Overeem, Alexander Volkov, and Jairzinho Rozenstruik.
Blaydes has a pressure-heavy wrestling style which often makes opponents crumble.
Although his 3 career losses have come to the strongest power punchers in the world in Champion Francis Ngannou and the knockout king Derrick Lewis.
This weekend he will look to impose his pressure on Philly's slick striker Chris Daukaus.
Daukaus has had an excellent start to his UFC career winning his first 4 fights by knockout and picking up 3 performance bonus accolades.
He was favoured to win his first main event spot, but he crumbled under the pressure of “The Black Beast” who handed Daukaus his first UFC loss.
Daukaus is a slick striker with fast hands and knockout power in both hands which has been proven by his impressive wins against veterans like Shamil Abdurakhimov & Alexey Oleynik.
This is a great clash of styles spectacle and both fighters are facing a style that favours them to win.
Blaydes has faced defeats to power punchers which will not be the case when he steps in against Daukaus.
Whereas Daukaus also lost to a power puncher in his last outing, and he will be relatively safe striking on the feet against Blaydes.
The pathways to victory are very clear, Blaydes will have to set up his takedown entries through his combinations.
Although Daukaus will look to enter the pocket strike first and exit before he gets engaged in clinch situations.
Best Bets
Picking up where we left off, we're going back to parlay city for this week's first best bet.
We're combining Askar Askarov and Stake Ambassador Alexa Grasso for a near-plus money spot.
Askarov is undefeated and has proven that he can hang with the best when he fought ex-champ Brandon Moreno to a draw.
We think Kai is a great striker but has displayed poor takedown defence which makes for a nightmare matchup.
For our second leg, we think Alexa Grasso has found her groove at Flyweight and this weekend she meets Joanne Wood who is on the decline.
Our second best bet this weekend comes on an entertaining main-card bout between veteran Matt Brown and Bryan Barberena.
This fight is going to be ugly and very entertaining, although we believe Barberena has a good chin and Brown is on the decline.
So, we're backing the slight underdog this weekend for our second ticket.
Our final best bet comes on the top-10 Heavyweight main event between fourth-ranked Curtis Blaydes and ninth-ranked Chris Daukaus.
We think Blaydes has a style that will give every fighter trouble and he has only had trouble against power punchers which will not be the case when he collides with Daukaus.
Ultimately, we believe he will show his experience and dominate the ex-Philly cop over 25 minutes.
Selections: Askar Askarov + Alexa Grasso (Win market) @1.76
Bryan Barberena (Win market) @1.91
Curtis Blaydes by Decision (Win method) @3.50
Parlay all Selections @11.75
