Previous Fights & Fighter History
Jon Jones vs Stipe Miocic
Although his performances have slowed down in recent years, many fans still consider Jon Jones to be one of the best fighters of all time. He tore through the light heavyweight division when he first entered the UFC and captured the heavyweight belt with ease when he moved up to face Cyril Gane. Jones may have avoided facing interim champion Tom Aspinall, but he’s the heavy betting favorite to retain his title in this fight.
Stipe Miocic hasn’t had a win in the UFC since he defeated Daniel Cormier more than four years ago. Despite this, he’s been given a title shot based on his status as a legend of the sport. At 42 years old and with a long period of inactivity, it’s hard to see anything other than a brutal finish for Jones, but the former heavyweight champion is as tough and experienced as they come.
Charles Oliveira vs Michael Chandler
Oliveira is a fan favorite thanks to his high-pressure style and willingness to always look for a finish. This style has earned him multiple bonuses in the UFC, and his run to the fight against lightweight champion Islam Makhachev saw him win 11 fights in a row. This included stoppages over Gaethje, Poirier, and Chandler. Now, he’ll face Chandler once more and is currently a heavy favorite. His submission skills will likely pose a key path to victory.
Since their first fight, Chandler has 2 losses and 1 win. He spent a lot of time on the sidelines waiting for a Conor McGregor fight, which never materialized, and it will be interesting to see whether he’s changed much since his last time in the cage back in 2022. He’s an explosive fighter who often puts himself in harm's way while throwing bombs, which makes for exciting fights. However, if he wants to get into title contention before retirement, he’ll need to be more cautious in his approach.
Bo Nickal vs Paul Craig
Bo Nickal has come into the UFC as an elite prospect thanks to his high-level college wrestling background. He was a three-time NCAA Division 1 national champion and has now gone 6-0 in his professional MMA career. Despite only having three fights in the UFC, he’s expected to be fighting for the title soon. However, he has to get through Paul Craig first.
Craig has significantly more experience compared to Nickal, with a 17-8-1 professional record. However, he’s a massive betting underdog for this fight after losing in his last two appearances inside the cage. As a submission specialist, it’s unlikely that Nickal will grapple with him as much as he normally would, so we expect to see more of a striking battle. Nickal has already shown power in his hands, so a KO/TKO is possible.
