NFL 2022 Weekly Preview: Week 8
Welcome to our Halloween Special Edition of our Weekly Preview. We have a few tricks up our sleeve for this week and are very confident in our plays.
We suggest you grab some candy corn and a slice of pumpkin pie and continue reading.
While we had a slight hiccup last week and went 2-3, we are very confident that we will bounce back and have a wonderful week.
If this is your first time reading our Weekly Preview, we have a winner for each of the 5 days of football.
This covers the NFL Thursday Night Football, a Friday college football game, a Saturday college football game, a Sunday NFL game and finally the Monday Night Football game to end the week!
With that said, let’s get into the winners for the week!
NFL – Baltimore Ravens @ Tampa Bay Buccaneers
We finally get a Thursday Night Football game that will be worth watching.
The division leading Ravens (4-3) head into Tampa Bay to face the slumping Buccaneers (3-4) and Tom Brady.
Tom Brady has been in the news for all the wrong reasons lately and we believe that he will accomplish something on Thursday which will add to his horrible season.
If you did not know, Tom Brady has only lost three times in a row once in his career. You have to go back to 2002 when Tom lost four in a row.
Since then, Tom Brady has been 13-0 when his team has been on a two game losing streak.
Despite everything that has gone wrong for the Buccaneers so far this season, they are still leading their division.
After seeing what happened last week in Carolina, we believe that the Buccaneers are in a free fall.
With a short week, we can’t imagine how the Buccaneers defence will be able to plan against Lamar Jackson.
Jackson is known to shine in big games and we believe that he will have a huge game on Thursday Night.
The Ravens haven’t won two games in a row all season and have alternated wins and losses.
This will come to an end on Thursday when the Ravens beat a Tom Brady Buccaneers squad that is going through a ton of issues.
As hard as it is to bet against Brady on National Television, lay the points on the road and take the Ravens.
Selection: Baltimore Ravens -1.5 @ 1.88
College Football – Louisiana Tech Bulldogs @ FIU Panthers
We have the privilege of watching another FIU Panthers game on Friday Night. Last week, the Panthers pulled off a huge upset as a 14-point underdog.
Charlotte, who was 1-6 going into the game, had five turnovers and basically gift wrapped an easy win for the Panthers.
Despite that win and now their 3-4 record, we still believe these Panthers are one of the worst teams in college football.
This is still the same team who lost 73-0 a month ago and are now facing a very hungry Louisiana Tech Bulldogs squad that lost on a two-point conversion last week in overtime.
With an opportunity to play on Friday Night, we believe the Bulldogs will be fired up and motivated to break their two-game losing streak.
As long as the Bulldogs defence makes a couple stops in the game, we believe that the offense should be able to score at will.
Feel quite confident laying the 6.5 points with a 2-5 team.
They are by far better than their record and should easily win by double digits against this terrible Panthers squad.
Selection: Louisiana Tech Bulldogs -6.5 @ 1.85
College Football - Oklahoma Sooners @ Iowa State Cyclones
How in the world are the Sooners a slight favourite on the road against a solid Iowa State football squad?
Oklahoma was by far the most overrated team coming into the season and are a lot worse than their 4-3 record would suggest.
On the contrary, the Cyclones are a lot better than their 3-4 record. Both these teams started off the season 3-0 and have completely fallen apart.
The Cyclones are on a four-game losing streak which they are looking to desperately snap.
One could easily make the argument that the Cyclones should be 6-1 instead of 3-4.
In two of their games, they blew a fourth quarter lead.
The game against Kansas, their field goal kicker missed three kicks with one being at the end of regulation.
Iowa State has played great defence all year allowing less than 290 yards per game and 15.1 points per game.
Oklahoma, on the other hand, plays absolutely no defence and gives up a whopping 447 yards and 31 points per game.
Ames, Iowa should be rocking on Saturday morning and we should see a sleepy Oklahoma team get gashed on defence.
Take the Cyclones and expect them to easily win against one of the worst defensive teams in the nation.
Selection: Iowa State Cyclones +1 @ 1.91
NFL – New England Patriots @ New York Jets
We were low on the Patriots last week against the Bears and now are very high on the Patriots this Sunday.
Before we get into any analysis on these teams, we must simply state one fact.
The Patriots are 12-0 in their last 12 games against the New York Jets.
You need to go back to 2015 since the Jets last beat the Patriots.
Bill Belichick has owned the Jets and we expect him to shake off the embarrassing Monday Night effort against the Bears and get back to blowing out his opponents.
Remember, before the Bears game, the Patriots won 29-0 and 38-15.
We expected a reality check for them last week and now we expect a huge reality check for the 5-2 Jets who are riding high on a four game winning streak.
The Patriots are at the bottom of the AFC East and need to start winning to have any chance of making the Playoffs.
We aren’t concerned with the quarterback controversy in New England and are quite confident with either Mac Jones or Bailey Zappe taking the majority of the snaps.
The Patriots are by far the better team and we expect Bill Belichick to take out his anger this Sunday.
Expect a beat down in New York with the Patriots easily covering the 2.5-point spread.
Selection: New England Patriots -2.5 @ 1.90
NFL – Cincinnati Bengals @ Cleveland Browns
Are you ready for some Halloween football?
Is there a better way to end October than taking a home dog and the DAWG Pound on this special edition Halloween themed Monday Night football?
The Browns are hungry for a win and are a lot better than their 2-5 record would suggest.
Losing four in a row, the Browns need to win this game to have any chance of keeping their Playoff aspirations alive.
Heading into their bye week at 3-5 would be a lot better than 2-6 for team morale.
The Browns have managed to break the heart of their fans over and over by losing in some of the most excruciating ways.
Literally, four of their losses could have easily gone the other way.
The key to success for the Browns comes down to turnovers.
In every game they won this season, they have not turned over the ball. In all of their losses, they have turned over the ball at least one time.
We expect a clean game out of them on Halloween against a Bengals team that can afford a loss.
The Bengals have won four out of five and are looking better as the season progresses.
Their three losses this season have come by a combined eight points, which shows that they have been in every game this year.
We expect them to have a slight hiccup this week against a Browns squad that needs this win more than them.
Expect the fans to be rocking on this Halloween night which will cause Joe Burrow to make a few crucial mistakes.
Take the 3.5 points to be safe but don’t be surprised if the Browns pull the outright upset here.
This is a do or die moment for their Playoff dreams and we expect them to fight hard and win in Cleveland on Halloween Night.
Selection: Cleveland Browns +3.5 @ 1.88
So there you have it, five games in five nights.
We wish everyone a Happy Halloween and we hope that we can fill everyone’s pockets with a little bit of extra coin when our multi hits this week.
Our Halloween multi pays 23/1 this week and we are very confident that we can hit it.
Best of luck and Happy Halloween!
