A-League Tips and Predictions - Week 5

News Content

An action packed week of A-League; 20 goals across the 6 matches, and red cards featuring in all but 2 games.

The pick of the matches was perhaps Central Coast vs Western United.

Western United enjoyed a two goal half-time lead but a red card soon after the break turned the game on its head; with the Mariners then storming home to a famous 4-2 victory led ably by Jason Cummings.

Melbourne City dropped their first points of the season, squandering a two goal lead to Wellington Phoenix.

Brisbane Roar & Melbourne Victory settled for a 0-0 draw with neither team able to find their mojo in front of goal.

Adelaide United got their first win on the board in their new stadium, with Socceroo-hopeful Craig Goodwin dominant.

Western Sydney Wanderers marched on to another 2-0 home win against Newcastle, which unfortunately went against our draw tip for the match.

However we nailed our Sydney FC & Both Teams To Score tip at juicy $4.00 odds, winning 2-3 away to Macarthur in an entertaining game.

Western Sydney Wanderers vs Central Coast Mariners

Wanderers are proving a disciplined and well organised team so far this season, reminiscent of the football they played when they took out the ACL back in 2014.

They tend sit deep and are happy to soak up pressure.

Whilst the Mariners showed character in an inspired come from behind victory last weekend, they will have to be at their best to make their way past this resolute Wanderers defence.

Don’t expect too much goals in this one, was thinking to go under 2.5 @ $2.05 but even the under 2.75 @ $1.84 for the added insurance is still good value.

Betting Prediction: Under 2.75 goals @ 1.84

Brisbane Roar vs Sydney FC

Sydney have been in great form. Joe Lolley is proving lively up front, Robert Mak is another smart overseas signing, and even young-gun Patrick Wood has scored in their past two games.

Brisbane sit second last on the ladder, with just one goal to show from their opening four matches.

Charlie Austin has been somewhat spirited and Carlo Armiento has made some good cameos, but it’s difficult to see any obvious route for goal for Brisbane right now.

With Brisbane winless so far, Sydney will surely be looking to heap some more misery on the homeside.

Betting Prediction: Sydney FC win @ $2.30
