The Top Seed (Men’s) Danil Medvedev

Danil Medvedev has suffered a stunt of form in the recent months, but mostly by the hands of the legend Rafael Nadal.

Nadal has eliminated Medvedev twice so far in 2022, and Danil knows he’s had great opportunities.

Looking to prove himself again, and possibly regain the world number one, there is no better place than Miami.

The Russian will be anxious to get his campaign going, especially with no Nadal in the picture this time around.

The Top Seed (Women’s) Aryna Sabalenka

Similar to Danil, Aryna Sabalenka is the number one seed in this tournament but has not been the best player of the year up to this point.

Ashleigh Barty’s presence will be missing from this masters, which leaves the field open again for a ton of ability to possibly pick up a life-time chip.

Sabalenka has not been in form as of late, however, there would be no better time to turn it around than the Miami Open.

He has a complete game at such a young age, and will be only furthering his abilities as time goes by.

Having the second-best season behind Nadal, Alcaraz knows that there is an opening here at Miami, and could be his best chance yet to take some gold home.

Tennis’ future lies in the hands of Carlos, and I’m sure he will be taking care of it in an entertaining, but genuine way.

Who’s Hot? (Women’s) Iga Swiatek

Speaking of youngsters, how’s that girl from Poland in the women’s game? Oh, she’s doing just fine. The hard hitter from Warsaw, Iga Swiatek just added another stellar tournament to her resume. Indian Wells was a performance of grit, domination, and calculation by Swiatek. Her ball in these conditions can be dangerous against anyone, and the tour does not want to see the French Open Champion elevate her level even further. If she can win her first few matches, a sunshine double is not out of the question.

A Dark Horse (Men’s) Jenson Brooksby

Named by many ATP stars as “The Next Big Thing”, Sacrament’s Jenson Brooksby is of special cloth. The 20 year-old has an all-around game backed by strong and consistent groundstrokes from both wings. There is not much that may get past Jenson Brooksby, and when it does he returns it with interest. Posing a win over Stefanos Tsitsipas just a week ago, the American has arrived on the global tour, and will be a threat for years to come.

A Dark Horse (Women’s) Qinwen Zheng

A teenager that has taken the WTA by storm is none other than Qinwen Zheng from China. Possessing a huge forehand, serve, and backhand, the weapons are all very raw and starting to get more and more refined. Zheng can be an easy top 10 player in just a year or two, and as she begins to gain more consistency, the sky’s the limit.
